Artist's Comments

Physical imperfections are bad. It is necessary to get rid of them by utilizing a wide variety of tools, from makeup to computers. Art must be perfect and beautiful. For an example, take the skin of the subject. It must be perfectly smooth and flawless as not to detract from the picture. All unnatural impurities such as acne, scars, shine, and skin folds must be taken off of the picture in order for the photograph to be considered Good. The artistic merit of a photograph depends on the clothes, the model, the makeup, and the Photoshop. Lighting, balance, and composition are unnecessary for a Good photograph.

The model must not distort his or her face in any way, even to show emotion. It is nice to have a bit off feeling in the piece, but when it comes at the expense of the form of the face, it is a Bad thing. The most recommended pose is that of a girl with her eyes opened slightly wider than normal and staring straight at the camera, her face perfectly stiff and her lips slightly opened. If smiling is necessary, it is imperative that it is slight and does not affect the area outside the mouth.

And in life, those flaws are the cause of unhappiness, and happiness can be achieved by getting rid of those physical flaws, so that others see us the way we want them to. Of course, the girl in the photo does seem rather happy, despite them. I wonder if imperfections are really all that bad.

Coulda have told her to open her eyes bigger, pout her lips, and put her head up. On Photoshop, coulda have taken off the acne, erase the scars, reduced the shine, taken off that awful chin-fold thing, plump the lips, color it in a bit more. Looks like I didn't.

So I just adjusted the color balance a bit and left it like that.

And about the picture... Good idea, slightly bad photo. So much for the Triangle.

Execution, intention, and the photo itself...very wonderful.

I am very glad you like it! I have to admit, it depends more on the intent behind it, but I am glad you like it. Thank you!

Even as a general photograph of a person, I like it. Its more honest than most of what people put out there of themselves, for starters. You know, the ultra-serious, angsty poses? I think its about time for people to come out and smile.
:iconwindy-willows:
Not just those tiny little smiles either- a big ol' smile that makes the entire face seem to change its entire shape.

Exactly! The kind that are almost contagious!
