I am finally done and can I say I love this piece!
Captain Mako Streak of the Star Raider. She's in her sixties. I think she's the "deepest most profound" character I have, despite her character. Her entire story is about her realizing she's near the end of her life and wondering if "everything" was worth it.
She was the greatest Air Pirate captain the world had ever known. There was a World War thing (coughcoughWW1) and the pirate "nation" was forced to cooperate with the "Good Countries" for a while. The various gangs of pirates united under Captain Mako Streak and the Star Raider. The end of the war lead to (thankfully not WW2) a re-establishing of the political system, and now Captain Streak and her long-time-archrival-bane-of-her-existence-once-romantic-interest Commander Smith (who's a policeman who was obsessed with capturing her in their younger days) realize that their era is ending and that the Old Ways are slowly disappearing.
